The short book of wants

I found a funny poem I wrote a few years ago titled -  The short book of wants Want want want! She wants a hat! He wants a match! They want a shopping mall! The breadwinner days are long gone. Everyone is all for himself. As our world becomes full of people, and stories of how it all turned wrong. I want a house! I want a car! I want a lace and satin slip and buckles and buttons and a fat cigar! The breadmakers are back in town. Ovens full of pretzels, sponge cakes and croissants. How nice would it be to enjoy some cake and tea, and talk about everything and make loud sounds!!

For those rainy days and moody nights....

Save this and read it when you're in a bad mood.💌👌🏽 * You will always mean the world to someone. * Your smile can make someone who doesn’t even like you happy. * Every night, someone thinks about you before they fall asleep. * If someone seems to hate you, very often it’s only because they want to be like you. * There are at least two people in the world for whom everyone is ready to lay down their life. * On average, at least a dozen people out there love you in their own way. * Life’s too short to wake up every morning with regrets. * Therefore love the people who treat you right, forget about those who don’t, and remember that everything happens for a reason. * Even when you make the biggest mistake of your life, something good will come out of it. * When you feel that the world has turned against you, try to look at it from a different perspective, and you’ll understand it’s just not the case. * Always remember: when life offers you another chance, this time every

a body of artisans - a conscious choice con·scious   [kon-shuhs]  adjective 1. aware of one’s own existence, sensations, thoughts, surroundings, etc. 2. fully aware of or sensitive to something (often followed by of ) 3. having the mental faculties fully active 4. known to oneself; felt 5. aware of what one is doing According to the dictionary definition above, let me relate back to the message we hope to convey to our audience, our supporters, our readers, our teachers and the receivers. The becoming of ArtHope “BE” was brought about by our Founder who realised that one of the utmost and fundamental philosophies of our existence is to embrace your inner self and have the courage to just BE who you are. Having been through struggles of her own, KA, an artisan well versed in the skills of painting and drawing, came to realise her own intense passion to create. By no means did this realisation happen overnight and if you ask any artisan who can now perform with all their true h

Like vs Want - Parenting

A Family Affair. My sister told me to stop saying "like" and start saying "want" and demanded I make this my new year's resolution for myself in the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit. Not very meaningful when you read this at face value because everyone will tell you that one must be decisive, one must speak up, one must be direct and when one asks, yee shall receive. It is not an act of selfishness but an act of a superior mind by a person who knows what he/she wants and demands to be treated in a certain way. Let us explore how like and want behave in my family through a looking-glass. This week was the CNY 2011 holidays and the revealing results of parenting by which one sibling always says "I want to do this, I want to have that", and the other says "I like to have this, I like to see that" was given its peak. Disregard the personalities, the characters and the social surroundings and purely look at the impact of words. It is very rare that

Slash me up, Drink you down

April 2010 Slash me up, Drink you down As I salute to the all-time rock n’ roll legend, Guns n’ Roses guitarist Slash on his recent album, I also salute to the Hong Kong Government for its collaborative work on a momentous achievement in creating Hong Kong as Asia’s Wine Hub. For many Hong Kongers, living in a fast-paced environment has become an exemplary way of life. Everything from and including the arts, property, luxury goods and the basic necessities sometimes implore us to connect with the pleasures of the human senses and most likely, you would have considered drinking wine to wind down a rough week or boost up an unforgettable weekend. Since the removal of wine tax in 2008, the commerce and trade of fine wines in Hong Kong now is at its golden potential, is bringing awareness for quality and expectation in wines from around the world. Our livelihood of pleasures in opportunities and palatable indulgences no longer rests on a state of flurry as many wine collectors can now brin
