Interview by me

The Ka was the Egyptian concept of spiritual essence. KA’s creative art conceptualizes the human spirit with a skilled and unique art form presenting beautiful canvases filled with colours and inspiration. Throughout her years of artistic training, it is inherent that vibrant imagery, distinct colours and places where there is stillness and calmness that ebbs at the edge of your feelings are portrayed in her paintings. “My art doesn’t come from the outward. Everything is borne from within. Inspirations or images leave a deep mark in my heart, it comes from somewhere beyond the mind and self”, says KA.

PF: What do you want to show in your art work?
KA: When art comes from the right place, meaning from the inward to the outward then you are truly inspiring others. For me, everything is drawn from the inside and the final piece of art work becomes “realised” in the outward world when it is put onto canvas.

PF: How did the Art Hope charity idea come about?
KA: I wanted to be able to combine my passion for art with the wish to inspire others. Through my art I can express myself and it is by sharing that I can also contribute to the community. So for the past year, the process of executing this project, from the 8 ideas in my head for the paintings to having patience in finding the right charity, one with a good meaning and who will give inspiration to children especially in need, was the path I had to take. With the proper intention and at the right time, Studer Trust and Palette came along making the 1st Art Hope exhibition charity event possible.

PF: Looking at the colourful Art Hope collection really makes me happy and the vibe is great! Was this intentional?
KA: The collection of paintings has a dream-like quality, a sense of lightness and child-like essence. I’m glad you feel happiness because that is a child-like quality. We should all treat life everyday as though you are a child, and if we can look at the world in the eyes of a child, nothing is then difficult…and if we remember that, that gives you Hope when you face challenges in life, no matter what they are.

PF: Are you doing anything to Go Green with your work in art?
KA: In continuation to the Art Hope project to raise money for Studer Trust, a series of art workshops will be jointly held with Palette from Oct 11 to mid-Nov. Profits generated from the tuition fees will be donated to Studer Trust.
Some of the workshops will involve encouraging everyone to make use of old stuff you keep at home but don’t use, especially things you have collected and want to keep like cards, paper bags, small boxes, old bottles and old clothing items. l will guide the students on how to reuse these materials to create an interesting piece of art!
